Thru out history women has put their health on the line and at great risk by using many crude homemade cocktails and cosmetic remedies. In early civilizations, the use of poisionus substances like mercury, lead, arsenic and even leeches to make their faces look pale which was deemed beautiful in ancient days.  Actually Egyptians created the first cosmetics using copper and crude lead ores that did everything from hiding pores to smoothing complexions. Makeup has been a part of civilizaton for thousands and thousands of years. Over the years women have used young boys urine to fade freckles, berries to stain their lips, and burnt matches to darken the areas around their eyes.
